The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II brings to a close a period of British history that encompassed the Second World War, the growth of The Commonwealth, the end of the Cold War and numerous changes in society.
Throughout it all, the Queen remained a steadfast presence, entirely devoted to a life of service to this country, and to the many other countries that retained her as head of state. Her loss will be deeply felt in those places, as well as those regions beyond the Anglosphere that looked upon her as a calm, reassuring presence in an unpredictable world.
She was the symbolic focus of this country’s constitution, but she was also a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother – a loss that will be keenly felt by everyone in her family.
The Workers Union would like to offer its sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time.
