Aldi is creating 1,000 new roles across the UK as part of its ambitious store expansion drive, promising industry-leading pay and paid breaks
Aldi, has announced a significant recruitment campaign aimed at bolstering its workforce with 1,000 new store roles. This major move comes as the retailer pushes ahead with its store opening programme, set to accelerate between now and the end of 2025.
With over 1,050 stores and more than 45,000 employees already on the payroll and the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, the company is continuing to expand its footprint into new communities, reaffirming its position as a growing force in the UK’s competitive grocery sector. Aldi is actively recruiting for a range of positions, including Store Assistants, Store Cleaners, Store Apprentices, and various management roles.
Best in class pay and benefits
Aldi’s employment terms remain some of the most attractive in the sector. Store Assistants outside London will receive a starting hourly rate of £12.75, which increases to £13.66 depending on length of service. In London, the pay starts at £14.05 per hour, rising to £14.35 – a rate unmatched by many in the industry.
Importantly, Aldi raises the bar and continues to offer paid breaks, a benefit that most UK supermarkets do not provide. The value of these paid breaks equates to over £1,370 annually for the average store colleague – a meaningful contribution to overall take-home pay.
Kelly Stokes, Recruitment Director at Aldi UK, emphasised the value of the company’s workplace culture:
“As we expand into new communities, we’re excited to bring even more people into the Aldi family. We’re proud to offer not only the best pay and benefits, but also a positive working environment and real opportunities for progression.”
